Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is finally out and fans finally got to catch up with Wanda Maximoff after the events in WandaVision. However, the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel also concluded with Wanda's fate being ambiguous. So what can we expect for Scarlet Witch's future in the MCU? In Doctor Strange 2, it is revealed that Wanda was the one who wanted to steal America Chavez's multiverse-hopping powers so she could stay in a universe where her sons still exist. However, she ultimately realizes she was being manipulated by the Darkhold and decides to destroy the book, seemingly sacrificing herself in the process.
So does this mean we won't see Scarlet Witch again in the MCU? Elizabeth Olsen told Screenrant that she wants to know what fans are expecting for the character's future.
"Yes, and I want to know. I want to know. I want to hear ideas. I want the fans to have opinions," Olsen said. She also pointed out that she doesn't know what the future holds for Scarlet Witch and was satisfied with how Doctor Strange ended.
"I don't know. I don't have an idea either. I'm kind of in this place where I was happy with where we ended and I want to know where we go from here. I'm really curious what we make if at all," Olsen said.
It's an interesting response considering that fans are expecting to see more of Wanda in the future. For now, it's unclear whether the character survived but we should keep following the MCU to get hints on what her future holds.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness also stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Xochitl Gomez, Benedict Wong, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. The film is now screening in theaters worldwide.
