About Reg and Riko in Made in Abyss
Reg and Riko are the two main characters in Made in the Abyss. They first met after being attacked by a Crimson Split Jaw monster during Riko's cave raiding day in the first layer of the Abyss.
Riko was about to be devoured by the monster when Reg fired his incinerator at it. Riko dashed over to see who was her savior, and there she found Reg unconscious on the grass floor.
After Riko shared the beauty of the City of the Greater Pit, the two of them began to warm up to each other. Reg piqued Riko's interest not only because of his abilities as a cyborg humanoid but also because of his intriguing personality.
Reg was very supportive of Riko on the day she decided to go to the Abyss. Despite Nat's objections, Reg and Riko eventually decided to plunge into the dangers of the Abyss.
They supported each other throughout their journey from one layer to the next in the Abyss. Reg and Riko form a relationship that goes beyond that of a normal friendship in the harsh yet beautiful abyss.

Do Reg and Riko End Up Together in Made in Abyss?
At the time of writing, it is unknown whether Reg and Riko end up together in Made in Abyss.
For the time being, they are completely focused on discovering the secrets of the Abyss, as well as chasing Riko's mother, Lyza, and Reg's true identity and story.
Reg and Riko showed unconditional concern for each other on occasion. Despite being polar opposites, Riko developed a strong attachment to the young cyborg boy as they progressed from one layer of the Abyss to the next.
Riko is also not afraid of anything because she knows Reg will always support her, despite the latter's constant warnings to be wary of the Abyss.
They both have a lot of faith in one another. When one is in difficulty, the other desperately seeks a solution, perhaps an answer to their problems.
Riko nearly died as a result of the Orb Piercer's poison and the strain of the fourth layer curse. Riko's condition was such that Reg did not abandon her, despite his heartbreak and desperation.
Reg is in the same boat. By the time Reg's arm was severed by some of Bondrewd's Umbra Hands, Riko had overcome the curse of the fifth layer of the abyss to assist Reg.
Another intriguing aspect is Riko's comfort level with Reg. It's probably because she believes Reg is a robot rather than a young boy. She can even walk around naked in front of Reg without feeling embarrassed!
In any case, if the stars align, Reg and Riko will be a perfect match. They are, however, of different kinds, and they are still too young to think beyond their platonic relationship.
