Disney+ Will NOT Feature R-Rated Content

Though Disney does own some of the biggest box office franchises in history, they do have some very strict limitations when it comes to content—specifically when it comes to sex and violence. As it turns out, the upcoming service Disney+ will NOT have R-rated content, just as some fans may have feared.

According to entertainment writer Eric Vespe, it was revealed at the Disney+ demo that the highest rating the streaming service will go is PG-13. Here's the tweet:

Of course, this will come as a concern for some fans. What about the R-rated properties from Fox like Deadpool or Alien? While no solid answer was given, Vespe asked if all that material would go to Hulu, to which he was replied with, "that's a good assumption."

Surely this will come as a bummer for some fans. After all, Marvel has a lot of great potentials when it comes to R-rated material, just look at the success of Daredevil, Deadpool, and Punisher. It's been said though, that Disney is attempting to make some kind of compromise with the content; like with Deadpool, they'll still continue to pump out R-rated movies, but whenever he crosses over in the MCU, Deadpool will act PG-13. We don't know what Disney will eventually come up with, but hopefully, it's something that will sit well with the fans. After all, everyone is still pissed about how Disney couldn't land a solid Spider-Man deal with Sony.

Some think that Disney's competitors may be able to exploit this weakness in the future, but all we can really do now is sit and wait.

Disney+ officially launches on Nov. 12.
