Disney Will Move Forward With 'Kingsman' Prequel 'The Great Game'

To the surprise of nobody, Disney ended up canning a number of Fox movie projects that were in development. Now that the company has purchased Fox, they have to see what films will make a profit or can make them look good, maybe even win them an Oscar. It seems like Disney sees the value in Mark Millar and Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman franchise since they are moving forward with the upcoming prequel film Kingsman: The Great Game.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, one possible reason the film was greenlit is due to the fact that then-Fox President Emma Watts is now a part of Disney, thanks to the acquisition. Since the company was compelled to keep her, it seems like they respect her ideas and know that Kingsman is a valuable commodity that can end up being a huge franchise.

Matthew Vaughn, who directed the first two Kingsman films, has a large-scale plan for the franchise, including the aforementioned Great Game prequel, one more sequel to the current Kingsman saga, a possible Statesman set of films, and even a television series. Those are a lot of ambitious ideas and it will be interesting to see how they do.

No release date for Kingsman: The Great Game has been released. The first two films are currently available on Blu-Ray, DVD, and digital.
