Disney Reportedly Eyeing Joaquin Phoenix as Captain Hook in Peter Pan Live-Action Remake

There is little doubt that Joaquin Phoenix is hot property right now after winning a slew of awards for his performance in Joker. But would he actually do a Disney film after all the success? A new report claims that the BAFTA winner is being considered for the role of Captain Hook in an upcoming remake of Peter Pan.

The possible casting news comes from The Illuminerdi, which reports that Disney has already offered the role of the pirate to Phoenix in the new film Peter Pan and Wendy. It has not yet been revealed whether the Golden Globe winner is interested in taking on the role. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

First of all, I didn't even know that there were any plans to make yet another Peter Pan movie. After all, there is no shortage of adaptations of the J.M. Barrie classic. However, considering that Disney seems determined to keep rebooting every available property they have, we shouldn't really be surprised at this point.

Interestingly, Phoenix isn't the only DC star that could join the reboot. It was previously reported that Bird of Prey's Margot Robbie could take on the role of Tinkerbell as well. Although this seems like an awesome fit, there haven't been any official announcements from Disney yet.

Phoenix recently took home the BAFTA for Best Actor for Joker. He is also the current fan favorite to win the Academy Award for Best Actor later this month.
