Disney Pixar Announces Upcoming Film 'Soul'

We already know that after Toy Story 4, Disney Pixar is releasing a movie called Onward starring Tom Holland and Chris Pratt as elf brothers. What's interesting is, the studio has announced their second movie for 2020, a film called Soul from Monsters Inc. director Pete Docter.

Here's the official announcement:

The movie also comes with the tagline: "Ever wonder where your passion, your dreams, andyour interests come from? What is it that makes you… YOU?"

We don't have any trailer for the movie yet, but some guess that we could get a first look at the D23 Expo this coming August. With Onward already getting a teaser, I think it would be a while before we get an official look at Soul, but since the movies have close release dates, I think it would make sense that we would get a trailer before 2019 ends.

For now, people are expecting that Soul will pretty much be like Inside Out, one of the more high-concept projects for Pixar. "Answering life's questions" has always been some kind of deep concept, even for adults, and I'm interested to see how Pixar plans to pull that off with a kids' movie.

We may not have that much on Soul or Onward, but everyone is getting excited for the release of Toy Story 4 later this week. The movie has been getting some stellar reviews, and as of now, not one negative comment on RottenTomatoes. Of course, things can be expected to change once the movie comes out for the mass audience. I mean, all the critics loved The Last Jedi, but the audiences begged to differ.

Catch Toy Story 4 in theaters June 21. Soul is expected to be released a year later on June 19, 2020.
