Disney Names Its New Live-Action Peter Pan And Wendy

It looks like Disney's finally found its Peter Pan and Wendy for its live-action remake of the animated classic, Peter Pan.

According to a report by Variety, Disney and Lowery have just announced their decision to cast Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson to star in Peter Pan and Wendy, one of the Mickey Mouse House's exclusive Disney+ releases. Molony is set to play Peter Pan, and Anderson, Wendy. Anderson made her on-screen debut playing a younger version of Alice in the 2017 science fiction horror movie, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Molony, on the other hand, has had experience working on television series like the animated film Claude and The Reluctant Landlord.

As of now, there aren't that many details about the upcoming Peter Pan remake, however, the entertainment news outlets sources say that Disney is considering giving the film a theatrical release. While a traditional release seems like a common approach, the film's only been given a Disney+ midrange budget. A bombastic version of the Peter Pan story would cost much more than what the House of Mouse is currently offering the project.

If the reports are true and Peter Pan and Wendy does get a theatrical release, it's going to be interesting seeing how director David Lowery makes do with the budget being given the project. The filmmaker didn't really have that much trouble working on a mid-budget for Disney's reimagining of the 1977 animated musical Pete's Dragon, so he may be able to pull of Peter Pan and Wendy. Let's wait and see.

Peter Pan and Wendy has yet to receive a release date. We'll update fans as soon as we get word.
