Disney Makes Major Win With Five Movies Grossing $1 Billion In One Year

Disney might have hit a few losses during the third quarter of 2019, but it looks like the Mickey Mouse House has still had a lot of major wins this year. Not only did Disney make it to the top with Avengers: Endgame beating Avatar to become the highest-grossing film of all time, the company has also become the very first studio to have five movies each making more than $1 billion at the box office in a single year.

Earlier today, word came out that Toy Story 4 finally managed to cross the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, making it the latest Pixar movie to reach the $1 billion goal after Incredibles 2. While the news didn't come as quite a surprise to Disney fans, what many didn't know was that the film was the fifth Disney movie to make it to $1 billion.

Before Toy Story 4, Disney's live-action remakes of Aladdin and The Lion King also reached the $1 billion goal mark. Avengers: Endgame raked in more than $2 billion when it completed its theatrical run. Captain Marvel also hit $1 billion when it released early in February this year.

While this is pretty big news, we expect Disney to beat this record this year with a few more major movies guaranteed to be major hits. There's Frozen 2 set to release in November, and then there's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker set to premiere during the Christmas Holidays.

Disney's had a pretty good year, that's for sure.

Frozen 2 is scheduled to release on November 22, 2019. Meanwhile, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set to hit cinemas on December 20, 2019.
