Disney's Live-Action Hercules Movie Will Be Inspired by TikTok

Just like most Disney animated classics, Hercules is soon to be getting its live-action movie treatment soon with The Russo Brothers producing the film and Aladdin live-action movie director Guy Ritchie helming. Some fans of the film are wondering about how they'll tackle the new adaptation of the beloved classic and, as it turns out, it looks like they will do a very modern take.

Speaking recently with Variety, Joe Russo confirmed that the live-action film adaptation is going to be a musical just like the original animated source material and it will have an unconventional approach since it is going to be inspired by the social media platform TikTok.

"There are questions about how you translate it as a musical," he said. "Audiences today have been trained by TikTok, right? What is their expectation of what that musical looks like and feels like? That can be a lot of fun and help us push the boundaries a little bit on how you execute a modern musical."

So far, the details are unclear whether the film is going to literally cite the social media platform as their guide on their unconventional musical approach for the project since it would mean that we might see Hercules and the gang do the renegade or dance along with Beyonce's "Cuff It" or Meghan Trainor's "Made You Look."

Right now, without all the specific details, their plans for the movie sound very jarring since they will be taking a very modern approach to telling a classical story that is set during ancient times and involving the Greek gods. Will a TikTok-inspired Hercules musical movie actually work? It's very hard to tell.

The project is also still in early development so it is still far ways off before the film heads into production and we get the final details in terms of the casting and the actual story and tone of this new adaptation of the beloved classic.
