Disney is Releasing Onward on Digital HD Later Tonight

Disney might have just recently released Onward in cinemas, but thanks to the novel coronavirus outbreak, the House of Mouse has already decided to begin releasing Pixar's computer-animated urban fantasy movie on Digital.

According to a report by ComicBook.Com, Disney has just announced its plans to release Onward for purchase on-demand beginning Friday, march 20 at 8 pm ET. Not only is the film getting an early digital release, but it looks like the movie is going to make its way to Disney+ a couple of weeks after on April 3.

"While we're looking forward to audiences enjoying our films on the big screen again soon, given the current circumstances, we are pleased to release this fun, adventurous film to digital platforms early for audiences to enjoy from the comfort of their homes," director Dan Scanlon and producer Kori Rae told the members of the press.

It seems like Disney is trying its best to keep Onward afloat despite the COVID-19 pandemic. The spread of the novel coronavirus has had a huge impact on the entertainment industry. Not only has the disease forced organizers to cancel major events like Emerald City Comic Con and SXSW, but it's also shut down the production of films and television series like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

It's also forced the delay of highly anticipated films like Disney's live-action remake of Mulan, Black Widow, and The Eternals. The disease also forced the delay of the upcoming Bond movie, No Time to Die.

On the bright side, at least families are going to get to see Onward at home while they're in Quarantine.

Onward is currently screening in cinemas.
