Disney Fox Merger Finally Clears Hurdles And Is Set To Close March 8

It looks like the highly anticipated merger between Disney and Fox is finally clearing out with the deal set for a closing date early in March this year.

Bloomberg has the most recent updates on Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox and the studio's various film and television assets. According to the publication, the deal between the Mickey Mouse House and Fox has already managed to secure approval from the regulatory bodies in both Mexico and Brazil. These were two of the last markets that were prohibiting the deal between the studios to push through – regulators were mostly concerned about the power that Disney would wield once the deal finally pushed through.

Brazil's securities commission, CADE, has finally agreed to the merger – that is if Disney sells off Fox Sports and the broadcast rights it has in the market. Apparently the channel already has broadcast rights for Copa Libertadores, a South America soccer competition, the initial cause for anti-trust concerns from Cade.

Mexico has also approved of the merger between the two companies given that Disney sells their sports channels there as well.

Now, CADE is schedule to meet with Disney on Wednesday, February 27 to finalize the approval of the deal between the two studios. Once the approval is granted, Disney and Fox are given a ten-day grace period to finalize paper work, giving the merger a completion date on or about March 8.

This is good news for Marvel fans. The merger between the two means only one thing for the Marvel Cinematic Universe – the integration of the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and all of Fox's other mutant characters.

Marvel's next film, Avengers: Endgame, premieres April 26, 2019.
