As a growing provider of streaming services, Disney+ secures a partnership with Amazon Web Services as it eyes global expansion to be able to cater their services more effectively and efficiently worldwide as Disney+ would be relying on Amazon Web Services on their cloud infrastructure to give their streaming platform the support it needs to provide its services to almost 60 countries across the globe.

In a joint statement released by The Walt Disney Company and Amazon Web Services (AWS) as regards the global expansion of Disney+, through Business Wire, the companies declared, "the Walt Disney Company relies on AWS as its preferred public cloud infrastructure provider to support the explosive growth of Disney+, which quickly surpassed 100 million subscribers only 16 months after launch in November 2019."

In the same statement, the companies said, "Disney+ is expanding its use of AWS's industry-leading services to include more than 50 technologies, such as machine learning, database, storage, content delivery, serverless, and analytics."

Considering that Disney+ continues to expand catering shows of Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, Pixar, and more, the support that AWS can give to Disney+ could ensure that its services rendered to various countries across the globe would be a stellar one. As Disney+ surpasses 100 million subscribers, the streaming platform needs a stronger backbone to do this and AWS could give it to them.

With the competition of streaming platforms tightening as Netflix continues to be on top of the heap in consideration of the length of its services, and with HBO Max catering to shows as well, the rather young Disney+ secures a comfortable place in the competition with the shows like The Mandalorian, The Falcon, and The Winter Soldier, films like Black Widow, Luca, and Cruella, and more.

Through AWS, Disney+ would have a more stable service as well. During the release of WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, the streaming platform faced challenges with the number of viewers simultaneously accessing the content. In hopes of not experiencing it again, AWS could support the streaming platform in times like this.

Just last month, Disney+ increased its subscription price from $6.99 to $7.99 monthly and $69.99 to $79.99 annually.
