It's no secret to a lot of folks that Disney has been championing diversity and LGBTQ+ representation over the last couple of years which pleased fans the world over. However, it looks like the House of Mouse's movement is just a facade to cover up what actually happens in the company unbeknownst to many. Company CEO Bob Chapek is drawing major heat online after an email he sent to Disney's employees was made public.

The said email is in relation to Florida's "Don't Say Gay" bill which according to reports could limit the discussions of sexual orientation and gender identity in learning institutions. The said memo Chapek sent out to the Disney staff reassured everyone of the company's "unwavering commitment to the LGBTQ+ community" despite the existence of the controversial bill.

It reads: "In terms of our communities, we are and will continue to be a leader in supporting organizations that champion diversity. In 2021, we provided nearly $3 million to support the work of LGBTQ+ organizations. And, we have a long history of supporting important events like Pride parades." A part of the email also explains Disney's silence amid the issue. "I do not want anyone to mistake a lack of statement for a lack of support. We all share the same goal of a more tolerant, respectful world. Where we may differ is in the tactics to get there."

Unsurprisingly, a lot of people aren't exactly thrilled with the lack of a public statement from Disney's side opposing the legislation. On top of that, Disney is allegedly funding all of the sponsors responsible for the "Don't Say Gay" bill which all the more infuriated the company's employees. It would later spark an outcry on social media with the hashtags #DisneySayGay and #BoycottDisney quickly becoming hot trending topics on Twitter. Check out some of the reactions below:

As it stands, Chapek and any of the company's executives have yet to address the matter and while he did reassure Disney's staffers regarding their stand on the "Don't Say Gay" bill, being silent amid the issue isn't going to cut it. If anything, it's only going to get them in serious trouble.
