After unveiling its official poster yesterday, Disney finally debuted our first look at the upcoming animated epic Raya and the Last Dragon, and to call it just gorgeous won't do the trailer justice. The film features the voice of Star Wars actress Kelly Marie Tran in the titular role.

Originally slated for a November 2020 release, Disney's plans for Raya and the Last Dragon were ultimately halted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the project has been pushed back to early 2021.

Now, talking about the new teaser, the visually-stunning trailer features the humble beginnings of a young girl named Raya who is out to find the last dragon. Set in the fantasy-filled world of Kumandra, Raya must locate the mystical creature in order to save her home from the threats that surround it. Little does she know that the dragon is also in need of her help. The trailer ends with a shot of present-day Raya as her exploits begin.

It's no secret how Kelly Marie Tran has received a lot of criticism for her work in the Star Wars franchise, but this new character she's taking on could absolutely turn things around for her. Raya will undoubtedly become an inspirational figure to a lot of kids and kids-at-heart, that I am sure of and the decision to give the role to Tran is a great move. This is going to be Kelly Marie Tran's true redemption story and I can't wait to see her performance in the film.
