There's been a long-running joke that there would come a time that The Walt Disney Company would pretty much own everything in this world and while that claim is obviously far too exaggerated to actually believe, it's undeniable that Disney has been an unstoppable force in the world of entertainment for a number of decades now. Currently, the House of Mouse owns a slew of news and entertainment companies, including Hollywood's hottest properties like Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars. Even film outfit 20th Century Fox succumbed to them in the huge 2019 merger and it's safe to assume that Disney isn't done taking over the industry.

Apparently, Disney was real close to acquire Warner Bros. and its subsidiaries in 2016. In fact, The New York Times reports that former CEO Bob Iger was actually adamant about buying out one of their toughest competitions in the game but it turns out, AT&T's acquisition of Time Warner took place in the same year was already in its final stages.

If Disney somehow ended up becoming successful in its attempt to buy out Warner Bros., it would have meant that the House of Mouse also added comic book giant DC Comics to its list of properties. Now, could you imagine a world where both Marvel and DC are owned by the same company? Things would've been so much different but I guess 2016 just wasn't the time for it. AT&T is also set to merge WarnerMedia with Discovery in a whopping $43 billion deal but that's not to say that Disney isn't keeping a close eye on potential opportunities.
