The final episode of the long-awaited Dexter return aired earlier this year. Though several of the show's actors and creative geniuses would be willing to return, there is no credible indication that Dexter: New Blood Season 2 will take place. Gary Levine of Showtime recently made a comment on the possibilities.

It's 'Too Soon' for Dexter: New Blood Season 2

The network recently told fans about the prospect of a Dexter: New Blood Season 2.

"It's too soon to say," Showtime Networks president Gary Levine told TVLine. "We're still basking in the glow of the limited series, which was everything we hoped for."

In a January 2022 interview with TVLine, executive producer and showrunner Clyde Phillips also spoke on the potential for continuing Harrison's story:

"It's all in Showtime's hands," he told the outlet. "If they were to call me and say, 'We want to do Harrison. We want you to figure it out,' I'm pretty busy, but I would drop everything I'm doing and jump right into it. I would love to do it, but it's really up to Showtime."

Death of Dexter Morgan

Ten years after the events of the first season of Dexter, the story of Dexter Morgan was picked up in Dexter: New Blood. Dexter led a tranquil life in Iron Lake, New York, after pretending to die in a hurricane. However, when his son Harrison found him, Dexter started killing once more. Dexter also understood that there were other serial killers in Iron Lake besides him.

Dexter died at the end of the series, just as Chief Angela Bishop and Captain Angel Batista were about to reveal his crimes to the world. Harrison, meanwhile, left Iron Lake and went on his own. Fans started to question whether Dexter: New Blood Season 2 or a spinoff series centered on Harrison would ever air.

Michael C. Hall On Dexter: New Blood Season 2 Speculations

When asked if he would return for a possible Dexter: New Blood Season 2, star Michael C. Hall was as evasive as ever. Nonetheless, his response may give fans some optimism.

"I'm gonna take it one step at a time and let this see the light of day before I consider that question again but um… maybe," the Dexter Morgan actor told Jonatan Blomberg.

Hall wasn't disclosing anything, despite the interviewer even asking if Hall would be prepared to return in any capacity (whether as a ghost-like character like Deb or alive).

Years after the first season of Dexter ended, Dexter: New Blood brought back America's favorite serial killer. Fans are praising the comeback and clamoring for more seasons of the show. However, Dexter: New Blood is a limited series, and to this day, there is nothing to confirm that there will be a Season 2.
