Literally slaying the box office, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Mugen Train continues to dominate even in the US as it reaches a whopping $40 million USD securing its record as the fourth highest-grossing film in the US for 2021, only a few million behind the second and third place.

Recently, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Mugen Train sealed the top spot of being the highest-grossing film in Japan, and the highest-grossing anime movie globally, taking the record from Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away. In a tweet by the official Twitter page of the film, it confirms passing the $40 million USD mark.

The film continues to defy odds as it still has a chance to dethrone the current holder of the second and third highest-grossing film in the US for 2021. According to Box Office Mojo, Raya and the Last Dragon is on the third place at $44.1 million and Tom & Jerry in second with $44.8 million. This is not that far from where Demon Slayer: Mugen Train stands at $40 million.

The manga series of Demon Slayer and its anime adaptation available in both Crunchyroll and Funimation has helped a lot in the campaign of the film and possibly contributing a lot to the fan base making the film an international box office hit. By June this year, the film is expected to be available through home videos.

Despite the uphill challenge of releasing the film in the time of a global pandemic that it is only released in selected theaters; the film is winning through the adversities it has been facing. Imagine if the situation is without a pandemic, how much more would the success of the film would be, right?
