Demi Lovato has always struggled with her weight and eating habits. In the past, the “Stone Cold” singer revealed that she has been diagnosed with an eating disorder. Lovato has also been very open about her substance problems, and she also overdosed at one point causing her family and friends to worry about her.

Throughout the years, Lovato has been trying to lose weight. But eagle-eyed netizens noticed that the singer packed on some pounds in recent months. Even though a lot of people also gained weight during the pandemic, the public was especially cruel towards the “Sorry, Not Sorry” singer.

Demi Lovato Weighs 181 Pounds

National Enquirer, in its Feb. 7 issue, claimed that Lovato ballooned to 181 pounds after gaining over 60 pounds. A source claimed that not only is the sudden weight gain concerning, it could also put Lovato’s overall health at risk.

The unnamed source also said that Lovato has been stress eating as a way of coping with her deeply-rooted issues. And since she has an eating disorder, she allegedly feels that eating her worries away was the right thing to do.

But Dr. Stuart Fischer claimed that Lovato seeking temporary comfort could eventually end her life.

“This kind of weight gain has made Demi a prime candidate for several life-threatening illnesses,” Fischer said.

Demi Lovato Dubbed As Obese

Additionally, the doctor also claimed that people that are obese are especially at risk during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The normal weight for someone her height is 115 pounds. The number-one factor that unites people who die from COVID is obesity and Demi certainly is suffering from that,” Fischer again.

Another doctor named Dr. Gabe Mirkin added that Lovato could be suffering from massive abdominal obesity that is typically accompanied by her liver being filled with fats.

“This is the most common cause of diabetes, which generally increases the risk for fatal heart attacks and strokes. Demi needs to work on what’s broken inside and learn to regulate discomfort in healthy ways,” the source said.

Demi Lovato Opened Up About Her Eating Disorder

In her YouTube documentary Simply Complicated, Lovato opened up about her eating disorder. She said that she didn’t purge during her relationship with Wilmer Valderrama. But after their relationship ended, this is the first thing that she did.

“When I was in a relationship with Wilmer I went three years without purging and when we broke up that’s one of the first things I did. The less I have to think about food, the easier it is to go about having a normal life and I don’t want to let anybody down so when I do have moments when I slip up, I feel very ashamed. And when I feel lonely, my heart feels hungry and I end up bingeing,” she said.

Growing up, Lovato recounted all the times that she baked cookies for her family only to eat them all and ended up not giving them a piece of cookie. She said that this was her earliest memory of food being medicine for her.

According to the singer, she has her substance problem more under control compared to her eating disorder.

“I don’t want to give it the power that it controls my every thought but it’s something that I’m constantly thinking about. Body image, what I wish I could be eating, what I wish I could be eating next, what I wish I didn’t eat, you know it’s just constant. I get envious towards people who don’t struggle with an eating disorder because I think my life would be so much easier,” Lovato said.

Demi Lovato Obsessed With Working Out

During her interview with the Pretty Big Deal podcast, Lovato admitted that there was a time when she became obsessed with working out.

“I thought the past few years was [my] recovery from an eating disorder when it actually was just [me] completely falling into it. And I just realized that maybe my symptoms weren't as obvious as before, but it was definitely an eating issue. I honestly think that's kind of what led to everything happening over the past years, just like me thinking I found recovery when I didn't and then living this kind of lie trying to tell the world I was happy with myself when I wasn't,” she explained.

Even if it’s true that Lovato has been struggling with her eating disorder, there’s still no proof that she tipped the scales at 181 pounds.
