After two years, Dead to Me Season 3 finally has a release date and an official trailer during Netflix's Tudum global fan event on Saturday, September 24. Despite the issues that stop the show from showing, from the COVID-19 pandemic to the lead star Christina Applegate's multiple sclerosis, the show will now come to an end.

After the second season dropped in May 2020, the show was eventually renewed in July. Now, after a long wait, Dead to Me Season 3 will finally come.

What Happened in the Second Season?

The second season ended with a major cliffhanger. A heavily drunk Ben (James Marsden) crashed his car into an SUV carrying Jen (Applegate) and Judy (Linda Cardellini) and later fled.

However, fans waited two years before seeing what would happen next due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Applegate's diagnosis.

In August 2021, the actress announced her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in a tweet.

"Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It's been a strange journey," she wrote, viaTVLine. "But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition. It's been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some a—hole blocks it."

Dead to Me Season 3 Trailer

Dead to Me Season 3 trailer sees Jen and Judy in the hospital after the crash. But between the two, Jen seems to be the most affected as she is seen wearing a neck brace.

"Can you get the f---ing doctor?" she asks the nurse. "Can you please get the f---ing doctor?" Judy softly repeats.

"I will do my f---ing best," the nurse responds, to which Jen has an apt response, "Aw. F---ing thank you."

Despite the accident, the clip also shows Jen winning. She manages to avoid getting charged following her confession to Steve's (James Marsden) murder.

Judy also finds a lot of money hidden in her paintings, probably from her ex's money laundering. Not only that, the city finally approves Jen's bid to put a stop sign at a busy intersection before she and Judy become victims of a hit-and-run once again.

Though the last and final season still has several issues to resolve, one thing is for sure, Jen and Judy will remain the best of friends.

"You're the best friend I've ever known, the best person I've ever known," Jen can be heard declaring in a voiceover while other scenes are playing.
