Now that James Gunn and Peter Safran are going full force on their plans for the new DCU franchise, questions are arising regarding the remaining DC projects that are currently airing or set to release soon that were made during the previous regime.
While the theatrical films will still continue their respective releases this year, some of the shows still have unknown fates and waiting for the decisions by the bosses at DC and Warner Bros. whether they will continue with all the changes that are coming in the DC franchise.
Fortunately, we now have the answer regarding the fate of the hit CW series Superman & Lois, which is set to premiere its third season soon. According to Variety, Gunn and Safran revealed during the press event that the series is expected to run for "one to two more seasons."
"It’s a show everybody likes, so it’s going to keep going for a little bit," Gunn said.
However, they didn't comment regarding the fate of the upcoming CW series Gotham Knights, the other remaining DC series in the network (aside from The Flash which is in its final season) and is set to premiere soon.
This update is certainly exciting for fans who have been worried about the fate of the fan-favorite series with all the changes that are happening in the DC franchise across all mediums. At the very least, we can at least say that the upcoming third season may not be its last one.
However, there is still a possibility that the series could also end its run with the upcoming season since recent reports revealed that The CW might only renew three scripted shows for the next season, which puts its future in strong uncertainty with several programs that are in contention for the spot.
