DC Cancels Ezra Miller’s The Flash Movie Prequel Series

DC Comics has canceled orders for the prequel comics series of Ezra Miller’s The Flash movie. The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive comics is a three-issue miniseries by artists Juan Ferreyra, Ricardo López Ortiz, and Jason Howard, and by writer Kenny Porter. The series is supposed to tie into the DC blockbuster film. The miniseries was supposed to be released in April, but a new listing from the distributor of DC’s weekly comics, Lunar Distributors, displays that the first issue is being canceled on its website. However, the artist of the miniseries, Juan Ferreyra has now addressed the reports of its cancellation, saying that fans can expect to see it later in the year.

"Nope, it will be printed later this year, so there won't be such a gap between the comic and the movie," Ferreyra posted on Twitter. The gap that Ferreyra is talking about is referring to Warner Bros. delaying the release of the upcoming The Flash movie, moving the release date from November 4, 2022, to June 23, 2023. Since the miniseries The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive was intended to release in the lead-up to The Flash movie release, it would make sense for the first issue of the comic to be released later in 2022.

DCEU’s The Flash isn’t the only movie to get delayed. DC League of Super-Pets, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Black Adam, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom were also delayed. Black Adam’s release date was moved to October 21st, while Super-Pets will take over Black Adam’s original release date which is July 29th. Aquaman 2 will now be released on March 17, 2023, while Shazam 2 is now moving from 2023 to Dec. 12, 2022.
