While most casual fans know Dave Bautista for his excellent performance as Drax The Destroyer, wrestling fans know him as "The Animal" Batista from his WWE days. He had a very successful career, winning six world championships and taking part in excellent feuds with Triple H, The Undertaker, and much more. Given all he's done for the company, plus his mainstream success, it's easy to see why he's being considered for the WWE Hall of Fame.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via WhatCulture), the company are planning on making the Guardians of the Galaxy star this year's frontliner for the Hall of Fame. Many fans are speculating that the induction is being done to coincide with next year's Avengers: Infinity War, where Bautista will reprise his role as Drax. There is a good chance that Infinity War will be showing after WrestleMania next year, which could get the company some mainstream attention.
Despite the method of getting here, Bautista - who I really just want to call Batista - is truly deserving of the prestigious induction. He was one of the pioneers of the company's "Ruthless Aggression" era, along with John Cena, Randy Orton, Edge and Brock Lesnar. The man has had some classic matches and rivalries, outside of his flawed 2014 return, which saw the star get showered with boos after winning that year's Royal Rumble. Bautista himself acknowledged that it was a bad decision, and has since gained mainstream popularity thanks to Guardians of the Galaxy.
Should Batista get inducted in the 2018 Hall of Fame? Yes, but only time will tell if this really happens. In the meantime, Bautista is set to reprise his role as Drax in Avengers: Infinity War on May 4, 2018, as well as it's unnamed 2019 sequel. Fans of his wrestling persona can play as him in WWE 2K18 on October 17, when they pre-order the Deluxe or Cena Nuff edition of the game.
