Dave Bautista Will be a Playable Character in Gears of War 5

News came out last July that Dave Baustista has been trying to get a Gears of War movie made, but so far, it looks like it isn't going to happen. In a fun switcheroo, though, the developers of Gears of War 5 have decided to make Bautista a playable character instead.

Here's the official announcement from Bautista:

We don't have any look at the gameplay yet, but I'm sure we're going to get something next week when the DLC comes out. While I think it's a long shot, I'm hoping we can get different skins of Bautista's characters in-game. While I'm not holding my breath on Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy, maybe we can have a skin for Hinx (from Spectre) or even his replicant character from Blade Runner 2049 with the tiny glasses.

With the tie-in content of Gears 5 with Terminator: Dark Fate, it's interesting to see what other kinds of pop culture characters Microsoft can bring into the game. With Bautista already in, maybe they can even make up the skin for his character in the upcoming Dune. Maybe Arnold Schwarzenegger's T-800 can be playable soon as well. Of course, this is all just speculation on my part.

Gears of War 5 launches for the Xbox One on Sept. 6. Bautista becomes a playable character on Sept. 15 after WWE's Clash of Champions.
