The Arrowverse shows on The CW have been a staple for around 10 years now, even after Arrow ended its run a few years ago. They've been consistently doing well in terms of audience reception and, just like any other TV show, viewers are hoping that they can watch the show for several more years. Fortunately, two of the shows in the franchise are extending their run for another year.
According to Deadline, The CW has renewed Superman & Lois and The Flash for a third and ninth season, respectively along with the other shows in the network such as Riverdale, All American, Kung Fu, Nancy Drew, and Walker which are also renewed for another season. It is unknown yet if the ninth season will be the last one for The Flash. There's also no decision yet for the renewal of the other Arrowverse shows Batwoman and DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
"As we prepare for the 2022-23 season, these scripted series, along with the alternative series we renewed earlier, will serve as the start of a solid foundation utilizing some of our most-watched series for us to build on for next year and beyond," said Mark Pedowitz, Chairman and CEO of The CW. "These dramas are also important to our overall digital strategy, as they are some of our most-streamed and socially-engaged programming, and we look forward to adding more new and returning series to help strengthen and expand our multiplatform footprint."
It is great to hear that Superman & Lois and The Flash are getting another season as it means that we'll be watching more stories and adventures with the iconic DC heroes on the TV screen. It's also not surprising that they were given a renewal since they are both successful at the moment and they have a lot of fanbases that can sustain their run for more years to come. But with the case of The Flash, it would be intriguing to see if the ninth season will be the last one although we might hear their decision on that later on.
However, it is concerning that Batwoman and DC's Legends of Tomorrow are not part of today's renewal announcement as it means that the network might still be having second thoughts if those shows should get another year since they're not as big as the two shows that were renewed. Let's just wait and see if The CW will announce more renewals soon.

Superman & Lois airs every Tuesday night while The Flash airs every Wednesday night on The CW.
