The Life and Career of Coolio
According to his Wikipedia page, Coolio started his career in the late 1980s but didn’t achieve incredible success in the mainstream until he dropped his 1994, 1995, and 1997 albums, It Takes a Thief, Gangsta’s Paradise, and My Soul.
Of course, he was best known for his hit song “Gangsta’s Paradise,” which earned him his 1995 Grammy Award, along with other hits “Fantastic Voyage,” “1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin’ New),” and “C U When U Get There.”
He also provided the opening track, “Aw, Here It Goes!” for the 1996 Nickelodeon TV series Kenan & Kel.

Aside from releasing his albums independently since 1996, he also became a chef, creating his own web series Cookin’ with Coolio and releasing a cookbook.

Coolio Dead at 59
TMZ broke the news about Coolio’s death. He died in a friend’s house in Los Angeles.
His longtime manager Jarez Posey revealed Coolio just went to the bathroom. However, he didn’t come out after a long while, so his friend started calling him.
When he didn’t make any response, his friend went in and found him lying on the floor.

The friend quickly called the ambulance, but when the paramedics arrived, they had already pronounced him “dead on the scene.”
The paramedics suspected the cause of his death was cardiac arrest. As of this writing, an official cause of death is yet to be determined.
Law enforcement cleared to TMZ that no drugs or drug paraphernalia were found at the scene. Coolio would undergo an autopsy and toxicology test to determine the official cause of death.

The police have already opened a death investigation, but no signs of foul play have been seen. Sources claim the coroner will make the final determination after the autopsy.
