In this list, we look at some of the coolest agender and non-binary anime characters from different anime shows!

  1. Romantic Killer’s Riri

Since Riri is a wizard, they can easily switch genders by using their magical wand.

In Romantic Killer, Riri can change into both a female and a male version of themselves without revealing their true gender.

In order to complete their mission, Riri usually irritates Anzu with their female equivalent and their plots to have her fall in love with either Tsukasa or Junta.

In order to fully comprehend Anzu's dating preferences, Riri also plays the role of her male cousin at one point in the anime.

  2. Made in Abyss’ Nanachi

Since Nanachi first appeared in the anime, their gender has not been brought up, even after they meet Riko and Reg in the abyss, which is why they are included on this list.

Nanachi is a hollow that made it through Bondrewd's lethal experiments in the fifth layer of the abyss.

They traveled down the abyss with the other kids, including Mitty, with the hope that they would live a much better life there.

  3. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime’s Rimuru Tempest

In That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Rimuru Tempest has no gender.

Rimuru was a young man before his accident in the real world, but he was reincarnated as a genderless slime in the fantasy world.

He originally existed as a slime with the potent "Predator" ability, which allows them to access someone's likeness.

As a result, Rimuru can transform their slime body into an androgynous version of Shizue Izawa after absorbing her using their Predator ability.

  4. Komi Can’t Communicate’s Najimi Osana

In Komi Can't Communicate, everyone's childhood friend is Najimi Osana, but despite their moniker, it's unclear what gender Najimi is.

Najimi sports a male necktie while dressing in a female uniform at school.

Najimi, who is friends with everyone at school, is a lot more outgoing and social than Komi.

  5. Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood’s Envy

Envy, the fourth homunculus Father created, has an ambiguous gender—in other words, they are genderless.

Envy has the appearance of a teenage boy with androgynous looks, but in reality, they are a small, multi-legged caterpillar-like serpent that resembles a parasitic flatworm.

In terms of being the cruelest homunculus toward humans and their suffering, Envy comes in second.

As a result of their nefarious actions, they are seen standing next to their brother, Pride, without regret or guilt.

In fact, Envy is so vicious that they take pride in the suffering they cause people.

They were the ones who ignited the Ishvalan War, which resulted in the deaths of thousands of people.

  6. Attack on Titan’s Hange Zoe

In the Attack on Titan anime, Hange Zoe is frequently referred to as a female, but Hajime Isayama instructed his publishers to refrain from using gendered pronouns in the manga.

In addition, Hange Zoe also has a character song which Isayama identified as Jibunrashiku, or in English, As Myself, which is about gender non-conformity and being non-binary.

The majority of the anime and even the OVAs portray Hange Zoe as a woman, aside from the fact that she is voiced by a female seiyuu, but the manga portrays her in a very different way.

  7. Naruto’s Orochimaru

Orochimaru is Naruto's first non-binary character. When asked by their son, Mitsuki, whether they should be referred to as mother or father, Orochimaru replied that they had been both a man and a woman.

They also tell Mitsuki that their physical appearance is unimportant.

Orochimaru was a major antagonist in Naruto who despised the Leaf Village and its inhabitants.

They can also inhabit different host bodies, which is why Orochimaru appeared feminine at one point in the series.

  8. One Piece’s Bon Kurei

In One Piece, Bon Kurei is both a man and a woman. They are a "newkama" or an "okama," both of which are Japanese terms for effeminate gay men, drag queens, and even transgender women.

Bon Kurei was not assigned a partner like the others at Baroque Works because they saw themselves as a blend of men and women.

Bon Kurei, also known as Bentham, is One Piece's first canonically queer character.

They became the crew's loyal companion after befriending the Straw Hat Pirates and going above and beyond to help them.

Their efforts were not in vain, as Bon Kurei is now the newly crowned ruler of Newkama Land in prison.

  9. Tiger & Bunny’s Nathan Seymour

Tiger & Bunny's creators confirm that Nathan Seymour, also known as Fire Emblem, is either a transgender woman or an agender person.

Nathan was assigned male at birth, but as they grew older, they preferred to present themselves as feminine in public.

They regard themselves as both a man and a woman now that Nathan is an adult.

Nathan is a flamboyant hero who possesses flame abilities and a highly maneuverable race car.

In their professional superhero costume, they represent their own sponsor company, Helios Energy, as well as an advertisement for FMV of Fujitsu.

  10. Stars Align’s Yuta Asuka

Yuta decides to conduct research into their self-doubt after developing feelings for their classmate, Toma Shinjo.

Yuta discovers in the library that they identify as non-binary, which means that they are neither male nor female.

Despite the fact that they have found the answer to their question, Yuta is concerned that people will not accept them for who they are.

In Stars Align, Yuta struggles to find out what they truly want to become in life while handling the affairs of the boys' soft tennis club.
