Complete List of Upcoming Disney Projects For Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and Many More


Disney made a barrage of announcements following its 2020 Investor Day. The company has announced its huge roster for Disney animation, Star Wars, and Marvel studio projects. The company also released updates on Disney+ and its plans for its other streaming services.

Below is the list of all the projects that Disney has announced after its Investor Day:

The home production company of the Star Wars franchise will be launching several series on the streaming service Disney+, two Star Wars theatrical films, and Indiana Jones movies which were already in their pre-production phase.

Star Wars Movies

Disney has confirmed that Taika Waititi will lead a Star Wars feature that will be released in 2024.
Wonder Woman director, Patty Jenkins is set to direct the next Star Wars theatrical film titled, Rogue Squadron which will be coming to the theaters in December 2023. Rogue Squadron was founded by Luke Skywalker. It is a Rebel Alliance starfighter squadron.

Star Wars on Disney+

Star Wars: The Bad Batch: This is an animated series that will follow a team of rogue clone stormtroopers that was made popular in The Clone Wars.
The Mandalorian: The widely popular series will have two spin-off series titled, Ahsoka and the Rangers of the New Republic. All of these shows will have crossovers that will intersect their storylines.
Star Wars: Andor: This is a Rogue One prequel spinoff that stars Diego Luna. It will be released on Disney+ in 2022.
Leslye Headland is working on a project that is set in the high Republic era, with more focus on the Dark Side.
Star Wars: Lando: This is a new event series that will be released on Disney+. The plot revolves around Lando Calrissian.
A Droid Story: The project is about a new heroic droid that will be introduced soon.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Ewan McGregor will finally return to the franchise with Hayden Christensen returning as Darth Vader.
Star Wars: Visions: This project is an anime anthology series involving Eastern influences.

Marvel Movies

Peyton Reed will be returning to direct the third Ant-Man film. The official title is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Jonathan Majors will appear as Kang the Conqueror who is one of the fan-favorite villains in Marvel comics.
Feige revealed the confirmation that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, WandaVision, and the third untitled Spider-Man film is connected.
Jon Watts is developing a Fantastic Four movie.
Feige confirmed that the Black Panther will not recast for the late Chadwick Boseman. Director Ryan Coogler is working on a new concept for the film sequel. The film is set for a July 2022 release.
Feige stated that there will be more announcements regarding Mahershala Ali's Blade soon.

Marvel on Disney+

Ironheart: It is a series focused on Riri Williams who re-engineers Tony Stark's Iron Man armor to protect herself in the Chicago neighborhood.
Kevin Feige confirmed that Tatiana Maslany will be playing She-Hulk alongside Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner. The Marvel Studios head also teased that some MCU characters will show up.
Iman Vellani will play Kamala Khan for the Ms. Marvel project. Feige stated that Vellani will also co-star with Brie Larson's Captain Marvel sequel.
James Gunn will be writing and directing a live-action Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special for Disney+ which will be released in 2022. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 will hit theaters in 2023.
I Am Groot is compromised of multiple short films that star Groot as he interacts with the other Marvel characters.
Armor Wars will have War Machine's Don Cheadle as its lead. The series will be the focus on War Machine dealing with a problem after Tony Stark's technology falls into the wrong hands.
Secret Invasion will see Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as Talos. The two are set to unearth a secret Skrull conspiracy.
Hawkeye confirmed that Hailee Steinfeld will join the series as Kate Bishop. The series will debut in the late fall of 2021.
"What If?" got its trailer. It is an animated series featuring the same voice cast as the blockbuster films.
WandaVision released a new trailer. It will be the first MCU series to be released on Dinsey+ on January 15.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier also had its new full trailer. The release will be in March 2021.
Loki also got its first full trailer. It will serve as a follow-up to Avengers: Endgame. It will be released in May 2021.

Pixar Movies

Luca is set in a seaside town in Italy. The movie will be released in June 2021 in theaters.
Turning Red is a film about a 13-year-old girl who has started changing during her puberty. She also transforms into a giant red panda whenever she gets excited.
Lightyear will star Chris Evans. It tells the origin story of the real Buzz Lightyear pilot who inspired the popular toy line in Toy Story. It will be released in the theaters in the summer of 2022.
Raya and the Last Dragon will premiere on Disney+ with Premier Access, as well as selected theaters on March 5, 2021.

Pixar on Disney+

Lightning McQueen and Mater will have their own Cars follow-up series which will come to Disney+ in the fall of 2022.
Pixar's first original animated series on the streaming service was titled Win or Lose about a coed middle school softball team that will be leading up to a week of the championship game. Each of the episodes will be based on the perspective of a different team member. It will be released on Disney+ in the fall of 2023.
Dug Days follows the dog from the movie Up. It is set after the dog and his master came back to suburbia from the jungle. It will premiere on Disney+ in fall 2021.
Pixar Popcorn is another new series of shorts that will debut in 2021.

Baymax! A Big Hero 6 spin-off series will be released in 2022.
Zootopia Plus will be another series that will be coming to Disney+ in spring.
We will also be getting Iwaju, an original series that is under development in partnership with Kugali Media.
A musical comedy series for Moana will be released in 2023.
The Princess and The Frog will also be getting a spin-off titled Tiana.
Simon Pegg will play Buck the weasel in the Ice Age spinoff which is titled Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild which will be released on Disney+ in early 2022.

Other Disney Projects

Noah Hawley is working on the Alien series for FX.
Chris Hemsworth and Will Smith will get their own National Geographic series. Smith's Welcome to Earth will be seeing his attempts in unlocking secrets of Earth's unexplained phenomena and extraordinary events. Meanwhile, Hemsworth Limitless will be exploring the potentials of a human body.

Disney+ Business Updates

Disney+ will increase its price to $7.99 per month, which is a $1 increase. The price hike will be implemented in March 2021.
Disney will have a new bundle, offering an ad-free Hulu, ESPN Plus, and Disney+ for $18.99. If the customers will subscribe to each service, it will cost them an additional $5.98 more per month.
Disney+ hits a new milestone after surpassing 86 million subscribers as of December 2, 2020.
Disney announces Star, it will be Hulu's counterpart for the international Disney+ subscribers. The service will be launched in Canada, New Zealand, and certain European countries on February 23. I will come to South Korea and Japan later in 2021.

Disney continues its plans for releasing more content, as well as expanding its Star Wars universe and adding more Marvel content on its streaming service.
