China Sets Strict 3-Hour Limit on Online Gaming for Kids

China is taking measures to prevent children from spending too much time on games. It has been revealed that the government is imposing a strict rule that will limit minors' online gaming to only three hours per week. In addition to that, kids can only play on certain days.

IGN reports that Chinese regulators are imposing new rules on video game companies like NetEase and Tencent. Starting Wednesday, September 1, minors will only be allowed to use these companies' services for three hours per week. Moreover, children will only be allowed one hour of online gaming per day.

The new rule prohibits minors from online games during the weekday. Instead, children are only allowed to play on Friday, Saturday, and Sundays and only from 8 pm to 9 pm. Additionally, they can allocate an hour of gaming on public holidays.

The policy is applicable to children under the age of 18. This means all school-age kids can no longer spend several hours on online gaming.

But how can China impose the new policy? Video game companies are expected to restrict online gaming during these hours. In addition to that, they must enforce a real-name verification system in place. This way, the rules can be followed.

This is an interesting policy in the effort to prevent excessive online gaming for school-age children. However, others are concerned that it might not be properly imposed despite the game companies' restrictions. After all, it is possible that people will manage to hack the system.
