Chicago Dramas’ Success on NBC
NBC is bringing back its Chicago-based procedural series, including Chicago Med, for additional seasons. Chicago Med, from super-producer Dick Wolf, debuted in 2015 as the third NBC procedural to join the Chicago franchise.

The first was Chicago Fire, which focused on firefighters, and the second was Chicago PD, which, predictably, focused on cops. Chicago Med became the franchise's medical branch, with Chicago Justice stepping in to take matters to court.
The template that Wolf first developed with the expansive Law & Order universe, which has seen numerous shows come and go, was plainly used in his Chicago franchise. However, Dick Wolf's Chicago series has seen failures just like Law & Order, with Chicago Justice being terminated after only one season.
However, that hasn't stopped Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med from maintaining their success and bringing in some of NBC's most consistent ratings.
Chicago Med Season 8 Renewal
There was no doubt in fans' minds that Chicago Med Season 8 would take place. Dick Wolf was able to negotiate a blockbuster deal for the Chicago suite of programs in 2020, allowing for multi-year extensions. Chicago Med, for example, was renewed for Seasons 6, 7, and 8 all at once.

Several Gaffney Chicago Medical Center members ended up in a predicament better appropriate to its sibling show Chicago Fire in the Season 7 finale of Chicago Med. Will's apartment building caught fire, putting him, Hannah, Dylan, and Jo in a possibly fatal predicament.
In other news, Crockett made a poor decision that had a negative impact on Pamela's condition, Charles dumped his therapist girlfriend, kids were born, and Vanessa was getting ready to meet her biological father.
Given that all of those characters must be rescued from the burning building, it is probable that Chicago Med Season 8 will pick up just where it left off.
Chicago Med Season 8 Cast
There have been no indications or hints that any significant Season 7 cast members won't return for Chicago Med Season 8. There was some speculation following the Season 7 finale that Sarah Rafferty's recurring character Dr. Pamela Blake would be leaving the show, but it does not seem to be the case.
While no major changes are known, former Jack Torrance actor Steven Weber has announced that he would return as recent regular cast addition Dr. Dean Archer after signing a new contract between seasons.

Chicago Med Season 8 Release Date
Chicago Med Season 8 has yet to be announced. If former seasons are a guide, though, Season 8 should debut near the end of September 2022. That is, of course, assuming nothing unexpected happens to cause a delay in manufacturing between now and then.
