Jesse Spencer, who plays Captain Matt Casey in the hit drama series Chicago Fire, is set to make an appearance in the show's Season 11 finale later this month.
Spencer's appearance comes as another series regular, Taylor Kinney, who portrays Kelly Severide, will be absent from the episode.
Spencer has previously expressed his willingness to return to the show, stating that he loves working with the old gang. He returned to the series in April in a guest role and will now be reprising his character in the series finale.
In the series, Casey has already re-established himself in Chicago in a new role leading a top-secret task force after leaving the series to look after his late friend's sons in Oregon.

Unclear Future Role for Spencer in Chicago Fire Season 11 Finale
It is unclear if Spencer's appearance in the finale will lead to a more permanent role for his character. The actor has previously expressed his openness to returning permanently but has also indicated that he does not see himself having a long-term role.
He believes his character's story arc will lead him back to Portland to resume his role as a father.
Spencer had previously suggested that the focus of the show should shift to Lieutenant Stella Kidd, played by Miranda Rae Mayo, in his absence. However, he has also hinted that his character's broken relationship with former partner Sylvie Brett, played by Kara Killmer, leaves the door open for future appearances.

Chicago Fire Season 11 Finale Air Date
While Spencer returns to the show, Taylor Kinney will be absent from the Season 11 finale of Chicago Fire. The long-term actor, who portrays Kelly Severide, took a leave of absence from the NBC drama for undisclosed personal reasons in January.
Producers have confirmed that Kinney's absence will continue for the remainder of this season, and there is no expected date for his return to the series.
The Chicago Fire Season 11 finale is set to air on Wednesday, May 24, on NBC. Fans of the show will be eager to see how Spencer's return and Kinney's absence will impact the storylines of the hit drama series.
