Check Out First Poster for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

Though reception was a bit mixed, Maleficent was a box office hit for Disney when it came out back in 2014, and the sequel is set to release later this year. Just in, we have our first poster for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, and Angeline Jolie looks fantastic as always.

It's worth noting that the poster also has a release set for October. Originally the film was going to come out May 29 of next year, but now the film has been bumped up by seven months, coming out Oct. 18. We don't know as to why it will be released earlier, but I'm guessing the film is proceeding faster than expected, and a Halloween release would have been perfect for a villain-centric movie.

The movie is set to have Joachim Ronning (PotC: Dead Men Tell No Tales) and will star Jolie alongside Michelle Pfeiffer, Chiwete Ejiofor, and Robert Lindsay. Harris Dickinson will also be the new Prince Phillip, replacing the original film's Brenton Thwaites. Princess Aurora is still being played by Elle Fanning.

This is the film's official synopsis:

A fantasy adventure that picks up several years after "Maleficent," in which audiences learned of the events that hardened the heart of Disney's most notorious villain and drove her to curse a baby Princess Aurora, "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil" continues to explore the complex relationship between the horned fairy and the soon to be Queen, as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is set to come out Oct. 18.
