There have been some rumors going around regarding The Witcher 4, but it's not looking good for fans who have been waiting for the game. That said, there would still be a new one set in the Witcher universe, but CD Projekt emphasizes that it won't be what the fans have been speculating.

Taking to Twitter, studio head Adam Badowski issued a statement to address those rumors. "The Witcher is always in our hearts and minds, but currently we are fully focused on Cyberpunk 2077," Badowski wrote. "When the right time comes, we will begin to talk about other projects."

Aside from addressing the Witcher 4 rumors, Badowski's statement is basically a follow-up to CD Projekt CEO Adam Kicinski's comments, who revealed in a recent conference that they will start working on a next single-player game once Cyberpunk 2077 gets released. A "clear concept" has already been laid down for this game, which is pretty exciting.

"I already said there will be no Witcher 4. I clearly said that Witcher was a trilogy," he added. "Simultaneously, we've always emphasized that we want to create Witcher games and the agreement with Mr. Sapkowski confirmed our rights."

Regardless of what the next Witcher game will be, it's safe to say that it will be another good one given the time that they have been lending on making these games. Cyberpunk 2077 will be released around September, and hopefully, fans would get to hear more details about the next Witcher game shortly after that.
