Camilla Parker Bowles had a rough start as a member of the royal family.

She was once known as the woman that destroyed Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage. After all, Prince Charles and Camilla had an affair while the former was still married to Princess Diana.

After Camilla Parker Bowles and Prince Charles tied the knot in 2005, thousands of royal fans across the world still didn’t like her. They were still reeling from the death of Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom, and it seemed as though no one would ever like Prince Charles’ wife.

But over the years, the public perception towards Camilla changed considerably. More people look up to her now and some are even grateful to her for supporting Prince Charles the best way she can.

Camilla Parker Bowles Becomes More Popular Every Year

According to Express, a recent YouGov poll revealed that Camilla’s approval ratings also increased in recent years. Even though a lot of people still do not like her, more and more royal fans especially from the younger generation are falling in love with Camilla.

As such, royal fans couldn’t also help wonder what this means for Camilla’s future title as the wife of the king of Britain. In the past, Clarence House already said that Camilla will be styled as Princess Consort when Prince Charles ascends the throne.

But there are whispers that this could change, especially now that Prince Charles’ wife is becoming more and more popular.

Queen Elizabeth Gives Camilla Parker Bowles A Special Honor

Earlier this month, Camilla received a special honor from her mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth. Even though the monarch didn’t like Camilla for Prince Charles at the beginning of their relationship, she eventually realized that her daughter-in-law is also an asset to the British monarchy.

So, the monarch appointed Camilla as a Royal Lady of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

According to royal author Sally Bedell Smith, the garter is a special and well-considered gift from Her Majesty. After all, this shows that the monarch recognizes Camilla’s service to the monarchy and to her husband.

“She has also been discreet and loyal, two traits prized by the Queen,” Smith said via CBC.

Craig Prescott, a constitutional expert at Bangor University in Wales, said that honor was in the direct gift of the queen. Unlike most other honors which are awarded on the government’s advice or those that are selected by expert committees.

After Camilla received the special honor, royal experts couldn’t help but weigh in on how they thought this would change the Duchess of Cornwall’s future.

Camilla Parker Bowles Can Be Styled As Queen, Not Princess Consort

Royal biographer Hugo Vickers recently told the Daily Mail that the appointment seemingly paves the way for the duchess to become not only queen by right when her husband becomes king also a queen by name.

Royal author Penny Junor previously said that she thinks Camilla will be queen. Junor also said that she doesn’t think Prince Charles would want his wife to be called something else, according to Marie Claire.

However, a spokesperson for Clarence House confirmed last year that there are no changes to Camilla’s future royal title. They previously said that Prince Charles’ wife will be styled as a princess consort when the future king is crowned.
