Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s divorce battle won’t end anytime soon. Just weeks after it was confirmed that the Maleficent star filed a lawsuit against the FBI, her lawyers have now filed a lawsuit targeting her ex-husband. Pitt and Jolie are feuding over the selling of Jolie’s shares of Chateau Miraval, but the mom of six, through her lawyers, explained in detail why she was forced to make the tough call.
Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie Almost Reached An Agreement Over The Ownership Of Chateau Miraval
In the lawsuit, it was revealed that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had an agreement when they purchased the winery in 2008. Both parties invested millions in improving the winery and making sure that it was profitable.
But after Pitt and Jolie divorced, the A-listers had some discussions regarding the future of the winery. Jolie didn’t immediately want to sell her shares, but she failed to reach an agreement with her ex-husband.
“In retaliation for the divorce and custody proceedings, Pitt embarked on a multi-faceted, years-long campaign to seize control of Chateau Miraval and appropriate the company’s assets for his benefit and that of his own companies and friends. Appointing himself the rightful owner of Chateau Miraval, his twin objectives were to usurp the value of Jolie’s company, Nouvel, and to obtain sole ownership of Chateau Miraval,” the lawsuit reads (via Page Six).

Brad Pitt Urged Angelina Jolie To Accept A Hush-Clause Banning Her From Talking About Their Divorce
The lawsuit also claimed that Pitt launched a hush-clause banning Jolie from discussing their divorce proceedings in public. But after she refused to accept the clause, Pitt made things difficult for his ex-wife.
The Bullet Train actor also started to have more control of the winery, and he spent millions on baseless vanity projects without consulting Jolie. At the time, the mom of six was still the rightful owner of Chateau Miraval.
Jolie also accused her ex-husband of secretly moving assets from Chateau Miraval to companies owned by him and his friends. This resulted in the devaluing of Jolie’s interest.
Angelina Jolie Decided To Sell Her Shares After Brad Pitt Refused To Cooperate
According to the lawsuit, Jolie only decided to sell her shares of the winery after Pitt made an eleventh-hour decision not to finalize their deal.
“Pitt’s hubris got the better of him: he made an eleventh-hour demand for onerous and irrelevant conditions, including a provision designed to prohibit Jolie from publicly speaking about the events that had led to the breakdown of their marriage. Pitt knew that much of Jolie’s wealth and liquidity were tied up in [her stake in the winery] and used that fact to try to force Jolie to agree to his unreasonable terms,” the lawsuit read.
As of writing, Pitt has not yet responded to Jolie’s allegations.
