Warner Bros. Discovery just changed the landscape of the DC film and television franchise forever with the confirmation that the newly rebranded DC Studios (formerly DC Films) will now be shepherded by James Gunn and Peter Safran. The shocking announcement comes following the departure of the production outfit's former president Walter Hamada, as well as the announcement surrounding Henry Cavill's Superman comeback.
To be fair, both Gunn and Safran have already showcased what they can bring to the table but it turns out that not everyone in the DC Universe fandom is pleased with the idea of them overseeing future projects for both film and television. In fact, fans of Justice League director Zack Snyder believe that the former DCEU director is more capable and deserving of the executive role.
Following WB Discovery's monumental announcement, Snyder's fans quickly stormed social media and made the hashtag #BoycottDC a hot trending topic on Twitter. In case you weren't aware, the hate for Gunn all started when Peacemaker's Season 1 finale included a long-standing joke about Aquaman's sexual life.

While Gunn's first DCU offerings weren't exactly commercially successful, both The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker were solid projects proving that the Guardians of the Galaxy director truly knows his stuff. Of course, the sentiment of Snyder's loyal fanbase is understandable but I think it's time to move forward and embrace the new and hopefully much improved DCU.
