Based on a popular manga by Yamaguchi Tsubasa, Blue Period looks committed to a heartwarming, great-looking slice-of-life experience that makes the anime one of the most highly-anticipated ones of the Fall 2021 anime season.

The premise isn't unheard of; in countless anime, and not only, but we've also seen a character discovering their passion and working towards fulfilling their dream. It's particularly common in sports anime, but Blue Period is the art lover's equivalent, and, judging from the promo, it looks like a very aesthetically pleasing one.

If you're keen to find out more, keep reading! Below you'll find everything you need to know about Blue Period Episode 1, including the episode's release date, release time, and more so that you can watch the premiere as soon as it comes out!

Blue Period: What Is It About?

Blue Period Yatora Yaguchi, a high-school student who is tired of his normal, dull life. All in all, he's a normal teenager seeing friends, playing sports, and doing everything that's expected of him - but he craves more.

When he sees a painting by a fellow student, Yadora toys with the idea of drawing something of his own. Soon, he finds out that he loves this form of self-expression and hopes to keep doing it as much as possible, and even potentially make a living out of it.

But being an artist isn't the easiest road: self-doubt, his parents' uncertainties, and the complexity of art are only some of the obstacles he'll face on his way towards a creative career.

The timing for Blue Period seems perfect: after a global pandemic during which minimal support was offered to art workers if any at all, it looks like the anime could offer a powerful comment on the struggles early-career artists might face. This definitely looks like it could be one of the season's gems, so we only need to wait to find out if it'll live up to that potential.
