Blue Beetle will finally arrive in theaters in just a couple of months. While the DC franchise is currently being retooled and the film's placement in the DCU is uncertain, a lot of fans are excited nonetheless to see the character's highly-anticipated debut on the big screen.
The film will also be historic since the cast mostly consists of Latinx actors and it is the first solo movie with a Latino superhero at the forefront.
Now, ahead of the release of the second trailer, we now have a word on another cast member that has joined the film for a key voice role of a pivotal character in Jaime Reyes' heroic journey.
Becky G Joins the Cast of Blue Beetle
As reported by Collider, Warner Bros. has announced that rapper and actress Becky G is joining the cast of Blue Beetle. She is voicing Khaji-Da, an alien symbiote that imbues and controls the Scarab.
The Latin Grammy nominee also posted a video on social media where she shared her excitement about her involvement and introduced a clip featuring her character.
"I'm so excited to finally be able to share with you guys that I am officially part of the Blue Beetle familia. I have the honor of playing the voice of Khaji-Da, who is an alien symbiote who decides who she wants to give the superpowers to," she said in the video.
"When I say that I couldn't be more proud of what you guys are going to experience while watching this film, I mean that from the bottom of my heart."
Afterward, a 30-second clip was shown which gave us our first look at Becky G's voice role as Blue Beetle's alien symbiote.
The rapper is joining the cast that already includes Xolo Maridueña, Adriana Barraza, Damian Alcazar, Elpidia Carrillo, Bruna Marquezine, Raoul Max Trujillo, Harvey Guillen, Susan Sarandon, and George Lopez.
While Becky G is known mostly as a musician, she has dabbled in acting roles before when she played Trina Kwan/Yellow Ranger in the 2017 film reboot of Power Rangers and has a role in the science-fiction film A.X.L.
Even though it's only a voice role, it is exciting nonetheless that Becky G is involved in the film, especially for a pivotal role where she is the reason why Jaime Reyes became Blue Beetle. It is now exciting to see how she'll fare well in her voice performance in the film.
