BLACKPINK reached new milestones after dropping its second studio album, Born Pink, over a week ago.

On September 16, BLACKPINK released its second studio album, Born Pink, and the video for their song, Shut Down. It serves as the K-pop girl group's new album following their first studio album, The Album, in October 2020.

Aside from Shut Down, Born Pink has seven more songs, including Pink Venom, Typa Girl, Yeah Yeah Yeah, Hard to Love, The Happiest Girl, Tally, and Ready for Love.

After the release, BLACKPINK's new album led the group to rewrite history and top global charts.

BLACKPINK's Born Pink Tops Worldwide Charts

On Monday, The Korea Times reported that BLACKPINK became the first-ever K-pop group to score the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 main albums chart.

Previously, it held the second spot on the chart with its first full-length album, The Album, two years ago.

Pop music critic Lim Jin Mo commented on its rising popularity, saying that BLACKPINK is following in BTS' footsteps.

"As BTS did, BLACKPINK has achieved genre-specific differentiation in a style that did not exist in the North American market. I also think the team succeeded in presenting strong performances while exuding free spiritedness and in showing active and strong teamwork," he said.

Although it was BLACKPINK's first No. 1 on Billboard 200, the group is no longer new to the charts, though. Its song, Ddu-du Ddu-du in 2018, left an impressive impression by being on the US Billboard's main singles chart, Hot 100, and Billboard 200.

BLACKPINK Also Enters Britain's Official Chart

Aside from Billboard, BLACKPINK also dominated the album section of Britain's Official Chart.

YG Entertainment said that the group became the first K-pop girl group to score the feat. It reportedly beat Rina Sawayama, Suede, and other artists on the Official Albums chart.

It also followed BTS on the chart. The seven-member boy group notably topped the Official Albums Chart in 2020.
