Black Panther 2 and The Batman Among the Films Included in Oscars Shortlists

Yesterday, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced the films that made it into the shortlists in 10 categories for the 95th Academy Awards including Documentary Feature Film, Documentary Short Film, International Feature Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Original Score, Original Song, Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, Sound, and Visual Effects.

The recent MCU film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was able to make it into shortlists in the categories such as Makeup and Hairstyling, Original Score, Original Song for Rihanna's "Lift Me Up," Sound, and Visual Effects. It is one of the two films that had the most presence on the shortlists alongside All Quiet on the Western Front with five each.

Meanwhile, The Batman was able to get included in the shortlists in categories such as Makeup and Hairstyling, Sound, and Visual Effects. However, it notably missed out on Original Score, which a lot of people assumed will be recognized in such before the shortlists were unveiled.

The current blockbuster hit Avatar: The Way of Water also had great showing in the shortlists as it made it in categories such as Original Score, Original Song for The Weeknd's "Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)," Sound, and Visual Effects.

Everything Everywhere All at Once, which is considered the Best Picture frontrunner, made it into the categories such as Original Score, Original Song for "This Is A Life," and Sound. However, it missed out on Visual Effects as it mostly favored blockbuster hits.

Jordan Peele's Nope had a strong showing as it appeared in the categories such as Original Score and Visual Effects. Unfortunately, it got snubbed in Sound.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Fantastic Beasts: The Secret of Dumbledore, and Jurassic World Dominion were all able to make it in the Best Visual Effects category shortlist.

It is exciting that these films were able to make it to the shortlists as they are one step closer to getting Oscar nominations. Now, all we need to do is wait and see which of them will reach the final five on January 24. There is no doubt that this is going to be a competitive race based on the list.
