It's no secret that Black Adam has been one of the most delayed DC projects in recent memory but there has been some hope that the movie is finally moving forward faster in the past year. Unfortunately, the movie is still getting a later release date in 2022. So why did this happen? It looks like production on the Dwayne Johnson film has been pushed back because of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3!
Black Adam is mostly done but the DC project was set to do some reshoots earlier this year. However, it has been reported that the film was not able to do as planned because the soundstages where they were to be shot were taken at the time.
The scoop comes from film pundit John Campea who revealed details about Black Adam's failed reshoots.
"Black Adam was originally supposed to do its reshoots in February at Trillith Studios in Atlanta where they did principal photography last year, but almost every soundstage at Trilith will be in use until the end of April for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3," Campea explained.
"Black Adam needs more significant stages that Guardians of the Galaxy are currently occupying and striking. So, the reshoot timeline is nothing drastic, just a mishmash of schedules between different productions at the time," Campea continues. "That's why the movie got delayed in March. The reshoots were already planned, Warner Bros. just couldn't find the time and or space to do them until May."
It's unfortunate that Black Adam isn't able to stick to its schedule. However, fans are still hoping that the movie will manage to complete reshoots and post-production in time for its October release this year.
Black Adam stars Dwayne Johnson, Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Sarah Shahi, Quintessa Swindell, and Pierce Brosnan. The film is scheduled for release on October 21, 2022. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will bring back the cast and will hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
