Black Adam Producer Reveals the Real Reason Behind the Film's Delay

After several years of development, Black Adam is finally showing in theaters this year. However, it was recently delayed yet again from this summer to October although the reason wasn't stated during the time that it was announced. Now, we finally know the real reason why we have to wait a little longer to see the film.

Speaking to TheWrap recently, Black Adam producer Hiram Garcia explained the reason why the film's release got delayed again for a few months in which he revealed that it all has something to do with the VFX work on post-production which has slowed down due to the massive backlogs of the VFX houses as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I think we’re just in a world right now where there was a huge and understandable freeze-up when the pandemic hit and a lot of productions were put on hold," Garcia said. "Now that the industry has really roared back, the pipeline for VFX is so jammed. Obviously, all these superhero movies just require so much VFX, and we’re just in a situation where the majority of the VFX houses are just completely swamped with work."

He continued, "I think that’s why you saw seismic shifts across the board, and you continue to see those giant properties just moving further down the line. And it’s just a matter of the vendors being able to accommodate the amount of VFX they have to do, the shots that have to be done."

In the end, Garcia gave a shoutout to the VFX houses who have been working hard on completing their work for the film, "They’re busting their ass, and we’re so grateful for all those VFX houses. It feels like things are starting to calibrate, and I think you’ll start to feel less shifts down the line."

The reason that Garcia stated is very understandable given that we're still dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic and the VFX houses still have an unusual set-up compared to the pre-pandemic times. Given how VFX-heavy the film is, it also means that there is going to be a lot of work involved and they need more time in order to finish them. In the end, we will still be able to watch the film in its best form possible.
