With the highly anticipated drop of Big Sky Season 3: Deadly Trails this Wednesday, here's what to expect from ABC's mystery series.

Big Sky is based on CJ Box's novel series and follows Jenny Hoyt, a police officer played by Katheryn Winnick, and Cassie Dewell, a private investigator played by Kylie Bunbury, as they investigate crimes in their rural Montana county. Winnick is well-known for her appearance in the television series Vikings.

Big Sky Season 3: Deadly Trails Cast

There will be some cast changes in Big Sky Season 3. At the end of Season 2, Jensen Ackles played the new sheriff in a guest appearance; now, he is a regular cast member.

Ackles is most known for his roles as Soldier Boy in Amazon's The Boys and Dean Winchester in Supernatural (for which he also co-created the prequel series The Winchesters).

Rosanna Arquette will also appear as Jenny's con artist mother in a recurring role. Arquette is most recognized for her roles in Pulp Fiction and Desperately Seeking Susan.

The "Queen of Country" herself is yet another intriguing addition to Deadly Trails. The cast will include actress and singer Reba McEntire. McEntire will play Sunny Barnes, whose property is the scene of numerous disappearances and perhaps a few deaths. Sunny owns a hiking route in the show.

Sunny is characterized by McEntire as "very protective and loving. She's trying to make a living with her family on this glamping thing and she's working really hard to hold it all together."

What to Expect from Big Sky Season 3: Deadly Trails

The trailer for Big Sky Season 3 begins with Patsy Cline's Walkin' After Midnight playing as we see Sunny Day Excursions, the "luxury backcountry experience" operated by McEntire's character, Sunny.

"Some trails are not meant to be followed," advises the text at the end of the trailer.

The trailer also shows Ackles and his genial charm as the new sheriff in town, as well as him working with Cassie and Jenny. Deadly Trails sounds like it will have something for everyone, whether you prefer Big Sky for the mysteries, the people, or the breathtaking scenery.
