Bethesda's Elder Scrolls Tabletop RPG Accused of D&D Plagiarism

The Elder Scrolls and Dungeons & Dragons are beloved by geeks everywhere since both of these franchises have made modern fantasy fun and personal. Due to the similarities, it made a ton of sense for Bethesda to make a tabletop Elder Scrolls RPG in a similar vein to D&D. Seems like those similarities were a bit too much though as Bethesda is now doing an internal investigation and seeing if their RPG plagiarized a 2016 D&D game from Wizards of the Coast.

Bethesda was going to release the game as a way to hype up their next big update for The Elder Scrolls Online. However, thanks to some eagle-eyed D&D players and a report from Ars Technica, the similarities between the Elder Scrolls RPG and 2016 D&D adventure The Black Road were too identical to ignore.

Fans can also check out a few quick comparisons here. It definitely doesn't look good for the Bethesda board game, that's for sure.

The major gaming company has announced that they will be pulling their board game and are starting an investigation on these claims. It's sad for those that wanted an Elder Scrolls-themed board game but D&D was already that so we don't see what the point of it was. Then again, there's nothing wrong with similar alternatives.

Is Bethesda guilty? Are there still people playing The Elder Scrolls Online? Let us know in the comments below.
