The Beauty and the Beast prequel series, according to Josh Gad, will begin filming in the spring. LeFou in Beauty and the Beast was played by the actor who is best known to Disney fans as the voice of Olaf in the Frozen franchise, and he will reprise the part in the prequel series, which will also star Luke Evans as Gaston.

Beauty and the Beast: The Little Town

The new Disney+ Beauty and the Beast prequel series, created by Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis from Once Upon a Time, will star Evans and Gad reprising their roles as Gaston and LeFou, the mischievous combo.

However, the prequel series is said to focus on a trio that includes LeFou's stepsister, Tilly, played by Briana Middleton, who just made her feature film debut in The Tender Bar.

Alan Menken, the series' composer, said that the prequel series will be called The Little Town, after the song Belle from the 1991 animated film Beauty and the Beast.

Gad shared an intriguing update on The Little Town in a recent interview with ComicBook promoting his new Peacock series, Wolf Like Me. According to the LeFou actor, the Beauty and the Beast prequel series will begin filming this spring:

We're still planning on shooting this spring and the scripts are incredible, the music is unbelievable, all-new songs by Alan Menken, we're casting now.

What to Expect in The Little Town

Casting is now underway, as Gad stated, and with the actor anticipating the start of filming in the next months, we will most likely learn more about the rest of the cast very soon. There are a few questions regarding how the tale will revolve around the town that is the key setting for the original Beauty and The Beast story because it is a prequel series.

If the series is set in the "little town," which is a reference to the opening song from the film Belle, it would be strange if the series didn't include Belle in some way, given Gaston's attraction to her. However, there has been no mention of any other stars from the film reprising their roles for the show, such as Emma Watson or Kevin Cline, who played her father.

The Beauty and the Beast prequel series has been anticipated since the 2017 film's release, with both Evans and Gad expressing interest in reprising their roles during the film's press tour. The series has also been widely anticipated due to the possibility of exploring LeFou's sexuality, which was a hotly debated aspect of filmmaker Bill Condon's adaption.
