During Disney’s panel at CinemaCon 2022 held in Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, the sequel to Avatar will be titled “Avatar: The Way of Water” and the trailer will be exclusively dropped in trailers along with another Disney film. Yes, they are referring to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and a week after the Marvel movie drops in theaters, the trailer of Avatar 2 will then be released online.

Avatar clearly etched its name in history as it held the seat of the highest-grossing film before Avengers: Endgame arrived. It has been announced a long time ago that it will be having a sequel and with it finally having a trailer is but a joy, especially to the fans who waited for the Avatar 2 to finally come out given that it has been exactly 13 years since the first movie released.

James Cameron, himself, feared that the sequel may flop due to the time the film had to take before its release and given that there is a huge difference in the years from the first Avatar film to put together Avatar 2, the market has changed drastically with the 13-year interval: the youngsters who enjoyed Avatar might even have kids already.

It would be no easy feat for Avatar 2 as the first Avatar movie did consider that before, it has so much impact to the audience given the technology used in the film being new then but now, the film would have to compete with franchises having a huge fanbase like that of Star Wars, Marvel, and DC. To have such competitors would make it difficult to get back on the limelight and build a fan base of its own.

Still, Cameron remained hopeful and finished the movie even with the ton of delays the sequel faced. Now that it will be having its first trailer released in a few days, the much-awaited Avatar 2 is finally stepping into the spotlight.

Avatar: The Way of Water is scheduled for release on December 16, 2022. Its trailer would be released in theaters along with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on May 6, 2022, and it would be available online a week after the Marvel film comes out.
