Attack on Titan Nabs Guinness World Record for Largest Comic Book Ever Published

There is little doubt that Attack on Titan has been a groundbreaking media franchise and the manga that started it all has just reached a major milestone. The gigantic printing of the manga's first two chapters has just been certified by the Guinness World Records as the largest comic book ever published.

Back in March, Kodansha published a titan-sized copy of the first two chapters of Attack on Titan. Each book is a little over 3 feet tall, 27 inches wide, and weighs around 30 pounds. Needless to say, it's about six times bigger than a regular tankо̄bon and should be easy to read for a Titan.

It might be big but it's not easy to come by. There were only 100 copies published of the special Attack on Titan tankо̄bon. In addition to that, one copy retails for 165,000 yen or approximately USD $1,540. Not surprisingly, the copies were sold out within two minutes when they went on sale in March.

Anime News Network confirms that Guinness World Records has certified the titanic tankо̄bon but also pointed out that the record was awarded to Attack on Titan publisher Kodansha.

This is great news for Attack on Titan after all the panicked reactions to the final chapter's additional pages. Fans even went as far as accidentally trending Hajime Isayama's name as they tweeted about how the last eight pages changed everything that happened in the final chapter of the Attack on Titan manga.

The manga might be over but fans can still look forward to Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2, which is set to premiere in Winter 2022.
