Atari Reveals PONG Quest, a Reboot of the Classic PONG

Atari's PONG came out back in the 70s, and though the game is simple, it has a place in history as the first video game ever made. With that kind of legacy though, Atari has decided to revamp PONG for the next generation of gamers with PONG Quest.

Here's the official description:

It's PONG like you've never thought it could be! Immerse yourself in a whole new world of PONG-inspired fun where you'll adventure as a brave young paddle traversing a variety of treacherous dungeons, all loosely based on classic Atari hits, including Asteroids®, Centipede®, and more. Your journey will dictate the fate of PONG World as you reveal the mysteries of… the Spooky Door!

What's great is, this version doesn't just borrow elements from the classic PONG, but also draws from other retro games like Centipede and Asteroids. There's also a new gameplay element involved where the "balls" now have a variation in movement, and players will have 50 to choose as they progress.

Besides all that, PONG Quest will also allow players to customize their ‘paddles' for the game, with the paddles also serving as player avatars. And like every other modern game, PONG Quest will also come with a multiplayer option that will allow players to go up against other PONG gamers around the world.

With the way modern games have come out, a reboot of PONG actually seems like a no-brainer now. Hopefully Atari manages to have a new hit with this reboot.

PONG Quest is available for $15 and will be playable on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
