Assassin's Creed Odyssey Will Be 'Much Longer' Than Origins

Ubisoft's upcoming Assassin's Creed Odyssey looks like a very good game, with great visuals and an interesting setting. While some fans are sad about the series becoming more like an open-world RPG, the formula was getting old for many and it seems like this might be what drives players back to the years-long franchise.

Game Informer recently made the game its cover for the month and interviewed game director Scott Phillips about it. When Phillips was put on the hot seat for 107 rapid-fire questions, one of them asked if Odyssey would be as long as Origins. He says no and that Odyssey will be a "much longer" game which is either a good thing or a bad thing, depending on what kind of player you are.

Just to be clear, Origins wasn't a short game at all. Sure, it wasn't as long as something like Skyrim or The Witcher 3 but 30+ hours of gameplay is nothing to sneeze at. Knowing it will be "much longer" could excite fans of long games or terrify those that wanted to breeze through this title.

Continuing the open-world RPG gameplay of Origins, Odyssey will improve upon that by not only being longer but also putting more importance on player choices and the relationships made. Stealth will likely be an option - this is Assassin's Creed after all - but expect more Spartan-like battles for the game, given the setting.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey comes out on October 5.
