Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 3 was among the main isekai anime of the Spring 2022 anime season so can fans expect any more content moving forward? If you're wondering whether there is going to be a Season 4 of Ascendance of a Bookworm, here is what we think.
About Ascendance of a Bookworm
For any newcomers, Ascendance of a Bookworm follows 22-year-old Urano, a young woman working towards her dream to become a librarian. When she's killed by her own book collection during an earthquake, her dying wish is for more time to read.
This being an isekai anime, Urano gets her wish fulfilled, but with a twist; she's reincarnated into the body of a little girl called Myne - which should mean plenty of time for reading. Unfortunately, this is a fantastic version of the Medieval times, but not fantastic enough for printing to be readily available.
But Myne won't let that stop her; even if most of her new family and friends don't know how to read, or even how to find a book, she's so dedicated to her goal to acquire and read all the books, that she will keep going, even if she has to print them herself.
Will There Be Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 4?
As of June 2022, Aija-Do, the studio producing Ascendance of a Bookworm, has not confirmed whether there will be a season 4.
At the time of writing, the manga and light novels of Ascendance of a Bookworm are both ongoing, meaning that there will be an opportunity to adapt more content if desired.
The third season of Ascendance of a Bookworm was favorably received with an 8.12/10 rating on MyAnimeList.
The newest season was still not as popular as expected partly because of more hyped anime stealing the spring show, and partly because it was cut short at only 8 episodes.
Of course, most anime don't even go as far as three seasons, and there's nothing to stop the creators from adding more, as, by now, Ascendance of a Bookworm has a dedicated fanbase.
With covid-related delays less likely to be a concern, a Season 4 of Ascendance of a Bookworm would likely be out within 1-2 years, likely mid-to-late 2023.
If such a development is announced, we'll be updating this space, so stay tuned!
