Aquaman 3 Now Shrouded in Uncertainty Following Jason Momoa's Latest Statement

Jason Momoa has been keeping the fans quite intrigued for the last couple of months. When James Gunn and Peter Safran were appointed as co-heads of the "new" DC Universe, speculation ran high that the Aquaman actor was switching from Atlantis to the cosmos with rumors of him playing Lobo beginning to circulate online.

Momoa has been teasing a huge announcement he's set to make in the coming days and naturally, many are under the impression that it's about his new role in the DCU. As for the chances of him continuing his journey as Arthur Curry after Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Jason offered an intriguing response regarding his

Speaking with Variety, Momoa was asked about Aquaman 3's potential plot and his response is quite telling. He simply said "I highly doubt it. I'm too dramatic" and while that seems to tease that a third film could be in the cards, his gesture seems to indicate uncertainty.

Momoa did state in the same interview that he'll always be Aquaman and he could play multiple characters in the new DCU. Now, whether or not DC Studios actually goes that route remains to be seen but in my opinion, it would be too selfish for Jason to play another character while taking the Aquaman role hostage.

I certainly hope that's not the case and if Gunn and Safran really want to hit the reset button on the franchise, they better start with a clean slate.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is slated for theatrical release on December 25, 2023.
